Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Treatment Program In Dallas, TX

Home Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Treatment in Dallas, TX

Eating disorders affect millions of individuals across the United States every year. However, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, less than half of them get the treatment that they need. Eating Disorder Solutions in Texas, aims to change that by offering a continuum of care that includes a partial hospitalization (PHP) eating disorder treatment program.

Our specialists understand the importance of addressing untreated eating disorders and aim to promote ongoing emotional and physical healing. We design our comprehensive services to provide personalized care for individuals with all types of eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, and OSFED.

Partial Hospitalization Treatment Services

We want to make our partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment program accessible to as many individuals as possible. As part of that objective, we accept more than 80 insurance plans from major insurers and offer financing options. For those who do not have insurance, we have flexible payment plans that are tailored to fit your budget. The result is affordable but effective care that empowers individuals to maintain their recovery.

As part of a larger treatment process, our partial hospitalization eating disorder program is designed to provide continued care as our clients adjust to living at home after completing our residential eating disorder treatment program. Our facility provides a comfortable, safe place for them to regain control and address underlying issues. When they return home, it may be difficult to adjust to everyday stressors unless they have the right level of support.

PHP provides the guidance that individuals need while still giving them freedom to adjust to living without an eating disorder in their own ways. Essentially, it’s a highly structured program that doesn’t provide supervision 24 hours per day. In some cases, however, it’s a suitable starting point for eating disorder treatment.

Partial Hospitalization Treatment Programs

What to Expect From Our Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

PHP Treatment Programs

Our partial hospitalization program offers the same intensity and structure of our residential eating disorder treatment program, while providing opportunities to practice recovery outside of our controlled environment.

This program requires clients to visit our facility five or six days per week. They participate in five hours of individual, group, family and nutrition counseling each day. We also provide meal support for breakfast, lunch and snack breaks.

Since we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, we adjust all of our services according to individuals’ specific, unique needs. The goal is to empower our clients by providing the tools and resources that they need to maintain healthy eating habits long term.

How Does Partial Hospitalization Differ from Residential Eating Disorder Treatment?

The main difference between PHP and residential treatment is individuals do not live at the treatment center. Instead, they are able to take the things they are learning during the day and apply them at night outside of our center. Clients receive much of the same structure as residential care, but PHP eases the transition to life outside the treatment program.

Our Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Program Schedule

If you or a loved one are considering our partial hospitalization program for an eating disorder, you may be wondering what a typical day looks like as part of treatment. Here’s what you can expect from Eating Disorder Solutions’ PHP program:

  1. Each day begins with a health and vital check at 7:45 A.M.  Breakfast is served at 8 A.M. with group support, followed by clinically supervised medication where applicable.
  2. The treatment day begins at 9 A.M. with a group session followed by a short break before clients move into a processing group led by one of our experienced, trauma-informed therapists. Lunch is served at 12 P.M., also with group support and a second medication period where applicable.
  3. Following a short break, clients participate in their their group of the day, focused on a specific topic of the day, such as body image, setting boundaries, or mindfulness. Snack time is at 2:45 P.M., then clients will either attend their individual therapy sessions or use the free time to explore new interests and hobbies. A brief break at 3:45 P.M. proceeds the final group of the day, lead by our dietitian or registered nurse and covering a variety of topics. The treatment day then ends with group supported dinner at 6:00 P.M.

Our PHP program offers staff-supported opportunities to practice interactions and challenges outside of treatment through a variety of therapy programs. Despite having a structured schedule, we make sure that our therapy sessions are tailored according to each individuals’ needs.

Components of Our Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Program

At Eating Disorder Solutions, we aim to change individuals’ lives by helping them address underlying conditions and teaching them coping skills during our eating disorder PHP. Our medical doctors, psychiatrists, therapists and registered dietitians work with each client to develop a customized treatment plan that achieves these objectives and personal goals for recovery. Each partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment plan will include medical assessments, a variety of therapy sessions and nutrition education.

Eating Disorder Medical Assessments & Diagnosis

In order to provide the best therapy and nutritional guidance, individuals undergo confidential medical and psychiatric evaluations to determine the level of care that is appropriate for their needs. Upon arriving at our facility, our partial hospitalization program for eating disorders includes physical exams and blood work. For instance, we perform urine, gastrointestinal, liver and kidney tests to determine whether individuals need specialized care. Our psychologists will ask a variety of questions to get to know the client on an individual basis and to identify any co-occurring disorders.

Treatment for PHP

Our premier team uses a variety of counseling techniques in individual, group and family sessions to help clients learn about themselves, manage underlying issues, build self-esteem and develop life skills. Some of these techniques include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Partial Hospitalization Treatment Therapy

Individual Counseling

In keeping with our personalized approach to eating disorder treatment, the topics of individual therapy during our partial hospitalization eating disorder program vary from person to person. These private sessions focus on the specific challenges and goals that clients face. In particular, we address the underlying problems that led to their eating disorders. These issues might be mental health disorders or untreated trauma.

Group Therapy

Group therapy as part of our partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment program is focused on cultivating a supportive, judgment-free space for growth and healing. The topics of group therapy sessions may vary, including but not limited to:

  • Self-esteem
  • Body image
  • Setting boundaries
  • Mindful eating
  • Nutrition education
  • Stress management
  • Meal planning
  • Medication management

All group therapy sessions are supervised and guided by an experienced eating disorder recovery specialist. Our trauma-informed approach to therapy creates a safe space for exploring the roots of disordered eating and related mental health disorders.

Partial Hospitalization Treatment Family Therapy

Family Counseling

It’s vital for our clients to have a support system as they go through their journey to recovery. In many cases, not only does the individual going through the treatment process need to heal, but the family needs help coping as well.  As part of our partial hospitalization program (PHP), clients’ families can join us for daily private sessions and weekly multi-family sessions. Their close friends and partners may also join them in understanding eating disorders so that they can better support their loved ones in recovery. If necessary our therapists can help them resolve conflicts and rebuild their relationships as well.

Nutrition Counseling and Education

Learning about nutrition and how to eat a healthy, balanced diet is another essential part of our partial hospitalization treatment program. Our registered dietitians teach individuals about the importance of eating certain foods in order to give their bodies the nutrients that they require to function correctly. With guidance, clients learn how to reintroduce foods in a healthy way and gain a better relationship with food so that they enjoy eating again. Our nutritionists guide clients through:

  • Intuitive eating and recognizing hunger cues
  • Eliminating anxiety and fear of eating certain foods
  • Menu planning and buying groceries
  • Making healthier food choices while dining out

For the best chance of recovery, our on-site nutritionists will tailor the nutritional therapy to each individual’s needs.
