Eating disorders affect millions of individuals across the United States every year. However, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, less than half of them get the treatment that they need. Eating Disorder Solutions in Dallas, Texas, aims to change that by offering a continuum of care that includes a partial hospitalization (PHP) eating disorder treatment program.
Our specialists understand the importance of addressing untreated eating disorders and aim to promote ongoing emotional and physical healing. We design our comprehensive services to provide personalized care for individuals with all types of eating disorders. Some of these include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, and OSFED.
We want to make our partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment program accessible to as many individuals as possible. As part of that objective, we accept more than 80 insurance plans from major insurers and offer financing options. The result is affordable but effective care that empowers individuals to maintain their recovery.
As part of a larger treatment process, our partial hospitalization eating disorder program is designed to provide continued care as our clients adjust to living at home after completing our residential eating disorder treatment program. Our facility provides a comfortable, safe place for them to regain control and address underlying issues. When they return home, it may be difficult to adjust to everyday stressors unless having the right level of support.
PHP provides the guidance that individuals need while still giving them freedom to adjust to living without an eating disorder in their own ways. Essentially, it’s a highly structured program that doesn’t provide supervision 24 hours per day. In some cases, however, it’s a suitable starting point for eating disorder treatment.

What to Expect From Our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) Eating Disorder Treatment
During our partial hospitalization eating disorder program, clients visit our facility five or six days per week. They participate in five hours of individual, group, family and nutrition counseling each day. We also provide meal support for breakfast, lunch and snack breaks.
Since we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, we adjust all of our services according to individuals’ specific, unique needs. The goal is to empower our clients by providing the tools and resources that they need to maintain healthy eating habits long term.
Our Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Program Schedule
After clients check in for our partial hospitalization program, they are served breakfast at 9 a.m. before the first group therapy session starts at 10 a.m. They get a 10-minute break with an optional snack before the second group session, which starts at 11 a.m.
Next, there’s a one-hour lunch break at 12 p.m. and a therapist-led process group session at 1 p.m. After another quick break and optional snack, they attend a fourth group session at 2:10 p.m. before going to individual or family therapy at 3 p.m., after which the schedule ends. They’re free to go home or to school or work after 4 p.m.
Only one time slot differs in the PHP schedule. On Fridays, individuals and their families gather for multi-family group counseling from 2:10 p.m. to 3 p.m. Despite having a structured schedule, we make sure that our therapy sessions are tailored according to each individuals’ needs.

Components of Our Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Program
At Eating Disorder Solutions, we aim to change individuals’ lives by helping them deal with underlying conditions and teaching them coping skills during our eating disorder PHP. Our medical doctors, psychiatrists, therapists and registered dietitians work with each client to develop a customized treatment plan that achieves these objectives and personal goals for recovery. Each partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment plan will include medical assessments, a variety of therapy sessions and nutrition education.
In order to provide the best therapy and nutritional guidance, our eating disorder PHP includes physical exams and blood work. For instance, we perform urine, gastrointestinal, liver and kidney tests to determine whether individuals need specialized care. Our team carries out these assessments at the beginning of treatment to ensure that each individual receives the right level of care.
Our premier team uses a variety of counseling techniques in individual, group and family sessions to help clients learn about themselves, manage underlying issues, build self-esteem and develop life skills. Some of these techniques include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy.
In keeping with our personalized approach to eating disorder treatment, the topics of individual therapy during our partial hospitalization eating disorder program vary from person to person. These private sessions focus on the specific challenges and goals that clients face. In particular, we address the underlying problems that led to their eating disorders. These issues might be mental health disorders or untreated trauma.
Each day of our PHP, we cover a different topic during group counseling sessions. For example, the topics for Monday are SMART goals, self-esteem and stress management. On Tuesday, the topics are CBT skills, nutrition education and relationships. We discuss body image, coping skills and mindful eating on Wednesday. Some of the other topics that we cover throughout the week include DBT skills, the medical consequences of eating disorders and relapse prevention strategies.
During some group sessions, we take a whole-person approach to care by using holistic treatments. These services supplement our evidence-based therapies and address the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of individuals’ well-being. For instance, the second group sessions on Friday and Saturday of our partial hospitalization program involve art and journaling. We also practice relaxation through yoga on Saturday. Individuals can even use these techniques as positive replacement behaviors that help them avoid negative behaviors and triggers at home.
As part of our partial hospitalization program (PHP), clients’ families can join us for daily private sessions and weekly multi-family sessions. Their close friends and partners may also join them in understanding eating disorders so that they can better support their loved ones in recovery. Our therapists can help them resolve conflicts and rebuild their relationships as well.
Nutrition Counseling and Education
Learning about nutrition and how to eat a healthy, balanced diet is another essential part of our PHP. Our registered dietitians teach individuals about the importance of eating certain foods in order to give their bodies the nutrients that they require to function correctly. With guidance, clients learn how to reintroduce foods in a healthy way and gain a better relationship with food so that they enjoy eating again.
Intuitive eating is a skill that our registered dietitians help individuals develop. It involves listening to cues from the body in order to determine when and what to eat. Also, we help them eliminate anxiety and fear of eating certain foods. We believe that all foods are good in moderation. Some of the other skills that we help clients develop include menu planning, buying groceries, cooking and making healthier food choices while dining out.
Other Levels of Care Offered at Eating Disorder Solutions
Aside from our partial hospitalization eating disorder program, we offer a residential program, intensive outpatient program (IOP) and standard outpatient program (OP). By offering multiple levels of care, we ensure that our clients get the extensive treatment and tools that they need to support long-term recovery.
Our residential eating disorder treatment is a live-in program with nurses who provide care and supervision 24 hours a day for the duration of the program. As such, it’s our highest level of care and includes 8 to 10 hours of therapy every day. How long that individuals stay in our residential program is based on their situations and progress in therapy. Because of that, some individuals only stay in this program for a few weeks, while others need months of care.
Our intensive outpatient (IOP) and standard outpatient (OP) programs can be used as step-down treatments from our more structured residential and partial hospitalization programs. IOP and OP are ideal for individuals who don’t need 24-hour supervision, but require support as they adjust to incorporating healthy eating habits and coping skills into their daily lives. Our IOP includes three hours of therapy on three days of the week. Our OP includes one hour of therapy on one or two days a week.
