Why Choose Virtual IOP?

Virtual IOP can be highly beneficial in eating disorder recovery for many reasons:

  • Accessibility: Say goodbye to geographical barriers! Our virtual programs allow our clients to access treatment from anywhere with an internet connection, making it especially valuable for those in rural areas or areas with limited specialized treatment options.
  • Flexibility: Busy schedule? No problem. Our virtual IOP offers flexible scheduling options to accommodate clients with work commitments, school, caregiving responsibilities, or other obligations. This flexibility increases engagement and reduces barriers to participation.
  • Anonymity and Privacy: We understand that privacy is important. Participating in treatment from the comfort of your own home provides a level of anonymity that can reduce stigma and increase willingness to engage in therapy.
  • Continuity of Care: Our virtual IOP bridges the gap between higher levels of care and outpatient therapy, ensuring consistent support as our clients progress through different stages of recovery.
  • Peer Support: Connect with others who understand. Our virtual IOP incorporates group therapy sessions, providing opportunities for peer support and connection with individuals who are going through similar experiences.
  • Evidence-Based Treatment: Rest assured, our virtual IOP offers evidence-based treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions, all proven effective in treating eating disorders.
  • Relapse Prevention: Our structured online programs equip clients with coping skills and relapse prevention strategies for daily life, helping them stay accountable and committed to their recovery goals.

The overall goal is to help clients adjust to living without eating disorders beyond the safety of our recovery center. Our virtual IOP program provides an opportunity to apply coping and life skills in real-life situations with continued guidance from our team of specialists. Clients don’t have to feel alone when faced with stressors and triggers upon returning home. Our online eating disorder treatment allows us to keep supporting them throughout every stage of recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Virtual IOP

What is a typical schedule for the day?

Our virtual IOP program consists of three groups a day. Groups are offered Monday – Friday, 9 am – 12 pm CST. You can choose the days that work best for you. Each group will last 50 minutes with a 10-minute break in between. Each day will start off with a process group, followed by a rotation of CBT, DBT, and nutrition education groups.

How often do I get to see my doctor/psychiatrist?

Upon admission, clients will undergo initial evaluations with both a doctor and a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. Afterward, appointments will be scheduled either bi-weekly or at least once a month, depending on individual needs and preferences.

Additionally, a lead nurse will remain accessible around the clock to address any questions or concerns that clients may have.

As part of our enhanced care approach, we provide each client with blood pressure cuffs and blind weight scales, such as the Shapa scale. These will be shipped to every client. During their weekly nutrition sessions with the dietitian, clients will step on the scale, and their weight will be recorded via an app on the dietitian’s phone. Similarly, clients will monitor their blood pressure weekly and inform the dietitian, who will then record the data in the vitals section of the OPUS system.

What overall approach do you use to treat eating disorders?

Eating Disorder Solutions follows the HAES model (Health At Every Size). The HAES model revolves around healing the relationship with your body first and foremost. This is done by incorporating the values of weight inclusivity, health enhancement, respectful care, eating for well-being, and life-enhancing movement.

What do meal plans look like?

Our meal plans incorporate an entree and a certain amount of sides. Upon admission, you will meet with a dietitian and engage in a nutritional assessment. Based on that, in addition to your diagnosis and past eating disorder history, our dietitian will determine a meal plan that is appropriate for you (entree and 1 side, entree and 2 sides, etc.)

Depending on what is realistic for you at home, you and our dietitian will determine what your meal plan will look like!
