Frequently Asked Questions About Virtual IOP
What is a typical schedule for the day?
Our virtual IOP program consists of three groups a day. Groups are offered Monday – Friday, 9 am – 12 pm CST. You can choose the days that work best for you. Each group will last 50 minutes with a 10-minute break in between. Each day will start off with a process group, followed by a rotation of CBT, DBT, and nutrition education groups.
How often do I get to see my doctor/psychiatrist?
Upon admission, clients will undergo initial evaluations with both a doctor and a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. Afterward, appointments will be scheduled either bi-weekly or at least once a month, depending on individual needs and preferences.
Additionally, a lead nurse will remain accessible around the clock to address any questions or concerns that clients may have.
As part of our enhanced care approach, we provide each client with blood pressure cuffs and blind weight scales, such as the Shapa scale. These will be shipped to every client. During their weekly nutrition sessions with the dietitian, clients will step on the scale, and their weight will be recorded via an app on the dietitian’s phone. Similarly, clients will monitor their blood pressure weekly and inform the dietitian, who will then record the data in the vitals section of the OPUS system.
What overall approach do you use to treat eating disorders?
Eating Disorder Solutions follows the HAES model (Health At Every Size). The HAES model revolves around healing the relationship with your body first and foremost. This is done by incorporating the values of weight inclusivity, health enhancement, respectful care, eating for well-being, and life-enhancing movement.
What do meal plans look like?
Our meal plans incorporate an entree and a certain amount of sides. Upon admission, you will meet with a dietitian and engage in a nutritional assessment. Based on that, in addition to your diagnosis and past eating disorder history, our dietitian will determine a meal plan that is appropriate for you (entree and 1 side, entree and 2 sides, etc.)
Your meal plan will depend on what is realistic for you at home, and you and our dietitian will determine what it looks like!
Can I continue working or attending school while participating in the Virtual IOP?
Yes, our flexible scheduling allows clients to choose group days that work best for their commitments, making it possible to balance work, school, or caregiving responsibilities while undergoing treatment.
How long does the Virtual IOP program typically last?
The duration of the program varies based on individual progress and treatment goals. Many clients participate for 8–12 weeks, though this can be adjusted based on your needs.
What happens if I need a higher level of care during the program?
If it’s determined that a higher level of care is necessary, our team will work closely with you to ensure a smooth transition to an appropriate treatment program, such as residential or partial hospitalization.
