Did you know that bananas are an excellent source of potassium?

You’ve honestly probably heard that before, but what exactly is potassium?

And why do our bodies need it?

Mineral Spotlight:

POTASSIUM

Well potassium (along with sodium) plays a vital role in controlling fluid balance in the body. Our kidneys filter sodium and potassium through the sodium/potassium pump and therefore keep our bodies’ fluid levels in balance and functioning optimally. Potassium also contributes to our muscle strength, water balance, and nervous system. It is actually our bodies’ most abundant mineral regulating blood pressure and helping to manage our bodies’ growth and development.

Recommended Daily Intake of Potassium is 4,700mg. Bananas contain 420mg Potassium/each. This recipe contains 840mg Potassium, that’s almost 20% of your daily intake in one go!!

2 Tbsp nut butter (peanut/almond/cashew/sunfower)
